It's the battle of the muscle cars and today we're going to see how the 2018 Dodge Challenger goes head to head with the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro! Both are popular choices if you want your car to have extra grunt, but at Santa Monica Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram we still think our competitor is the better pick and here's why!
ÂMore Power
If you're looking at a Challenger or Camaro it's safe to say you want a car that has a lot going for it under the hood. The rear wheel drive Challenger bests the competition with its 3.6L V6 engine that delivers 305 horsepower. That's significantly more than the Camaro with its 4-cylinder turbo engine and 275 horsepower.
ÂSeating Arrangements
The average muscle car driver of today balances thrill-seeking and responsibilities. In fact, the Challenger (and Charger) is known for its performance and its ability to be one aggressive family sedan. With that in mind, it's nice that it can sit up to 5 people, compared to the Camaro's four-person limit. The Challenger also has a roomier trunk that's 16.2 cubic feet and perfect for additional gear. The Camaro's trunk is pretty tiny at 9.1 cubic feet. Even if you are a childfree guy or gal, it's nice to have a car that pulls double duty by delivering an exhilarating ride while also being functional!
ÂTimeless Style
Looks are technically subjective, but we love the Challenger's long, flat hood, and short rear that pay homage to the earlier days of muscle cars. We think this look is going to translate well in later years if you choose to own one. The Camaro on the other hand is bulkier, more sci-fi (queue: Transformers), and will really date itself in later years. That's not a bad thing per say...but we're kind of suckers for the classics.Â
You can keep looking at side by side specs and information charts on the Dodge Challenger and the Chevy Camaro, but we think the best way to see which one is right for you is to go on a test drive!
