The efficient 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid goes up against the 2018 Honda Odyssey in a minivan faceoff
Shuttling a family around can often be a challenge. This is especially true if you hail from Beverly Hills or Marina Del Ray, all places that are known for having hectic, bumper to bumper traffic. To make this stressful adventure easier, we suggest buying or leasing a vehicle that is up for the task. Our suggestion: the fuel-efficient 2018 ChryslerPacifica Hybrid minivan.
Today, we'll compare our choice to the 2018 Honda Odyssey. Both are strong minivan contenders, but we'll prove why the Pacifica Hybrid is one you'll want to drive around the Playa Vista, Malibu, and El Segundo areas we serve.
ÂFuel Ratings
A 3.6L Atkinson Cycle V6 Hybrid engine with an Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT) paired with a 16Kwh lithium-ion battery is what powers the Pacifica Hybrid, but what does that jumble actually mean? It means you'll get up to 33 miles and 84 MPGe on just electric power! And when you've run out of electric "juice" the 16.5-gallon gasoline engine kicks in, so you don't have to worry about getting stranded on your way to daycare. With the available 240-volt Level II charger you can get back to 100% within 2 hours. The Odyssey is not available as a hybrid. Instead it has a 3.5L V6 engine. You'll pay more at the pump with the Odyssey, and you won't get to experience what it's like to drive an alternative ride.
ÂConvenience Technology
Parking a minivan is no small feat, and we know everyone wants to do it on the first try when they're in West Hollywood or West Lost Angeles. On the top Pacifica Hybrid Limited trim you get many standard convenience features like a surround-view camera, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and ParkSense for the front and rear bumpers! The Honda Odyssey doesn't offer these convenient amenities; you'll just have to make do with a rearview camera.
ÂA Refined Ride
A car full of kids tends to be loud on its own, so do you really want road noise to contend with as well? Probably not. All Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid models have active noise cancellation so you can tune out the outside. A sound-dampening acoustic windshield isn't available on the Honda Odyssey until you hit the third EX-L trim level.
