The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is a world-renowned off-road performer with classic styling that has stood the test of time. The recently revived 2022 Ford Bronco is far more capable than the old version, with off-road chops that come close to matching the Wrangler. At Santa Monica Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we think the Wrangler still has the power and cachet to outmatch the Bronco. Read on to see why.
Engine Power and Performance
Horsepower
When you need to climb steep hills or muscle through a muddy road, it helps to have plenty of engine power. Santa Monica drivers will like that the new Jeep Wrangler offers five engine options, including a 285-horsepower V6 base motor and a 470-horsepower V8 engine that puts out 470 pound-feet of torque.
The new Ford Bronco comes standard with a 300-horsepower four-cylinder base engine, but its strongest motor is a V6 engine that only makes 400 horsepower.
Off-Road Capability
Both the new Jeep Wrangler and the new Ford Bronco have solid off-road proficiency. However, the Wrangler beats the Bronco when it comes to approach angle. The approach angle is what allows a vehicle to climb up a steep slope without scraping its chin. The Wrangler's base model has a minimum of 41.4 degrees of clearance, while the range-topping Wrangler Rubicon 392 trim has a whopping 44.5-degree approach angle.
The new Ford Bronco's top model has a maximum approach angle of just 43.2 degrees. Also, the Jeep Wrangler offers an available limited-slip differential, which is not offered with the Bronco.
Fuel Economy
The new Jeep Wrangler is available with a diesel engine that enables it to get 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. People in Santa Monica will like its optional plug-in hybrid powertrain, which lets the Wrangler go up to 21 miles in all-electric mode. It also earns the Wrangler an estimated 20 mpg in combined city/highway driving when operating in hybrid mode.
The new Ford Bronco gets only gets 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway when equipped with its most efficient engine. It is not available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Interior Design
Durability and Convenience
Each new Jeep Wrangler model has weather-resistant removable carpet and one-way floor drain valves that make cleaning up after a day in the mud a breeze.
The new Ford Bronco also has drain plugs that allow you to hose out its interior, but only models with vinyl flooring have active drain plugs.
Technology
Infotainment Amenities
The new Jeep Wrangler comes with the award-winning Uconnect infotainment system. Santa Monica drivers will appreciate its sleek, modern displays with simple menus and snappy responses. The Wrangler's system also offers a Wi-Fi hot spot to help you stay connected to the Internet, even when you're out in the boonies.
The new Ford Bronco also has an easy-to-use infotainment system with a responsive touch screen, but it doesn't offer a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Safety Features
The new Jeep Wrangler has a high-strength steel frame, an advanced airbag system, and over 75 standard and available safety and security features for safer, more confident driving in Santa Monica.
The new Ford Bronco also has a sturdy body and multiple airbags, but it only offers 11 standard and available driver assistance features.
